The sky, from your photographs

OpenAstroMap places astrophotographs exactly where they belong in the sky — from a 180° sweep of the Milky Way down to a small galaxy field. Upload your images, see them on your own sky, and discover on the community map what others have photographed.

How it works

In its place, automatically

Plate solving recognises the stars in your image and works out where it belongs. No typing in coordinates — and where it doesn't work, you place it by hand.

Your sky, your maps

All your images in your library and on “My sky”. Put together maps and share them with friends or your club — what you don't share stays private.

A shared sky

The community map shows the images of everyone who wants to share them with the community, side by side — each with the credit and licence its photographer chose.

Open and free: OpenAstroMap is open source (AGPL-3.0) and can also be run by yourself. More on the Technology page.
